Entering a world of opinion

I can't say that I'm as well versed as I should be concerning politics.  But this blog is an effort on my part to focus my thoughts on the issues of our world and to gain information through interaction with others.  I have a few weaknesses, being human, and the one that gets me in trouble more often than not is my propensity for sarcasm.  Sometimes humor helps me to deal with the general confusion that seems to ooze from American culture.  I'll try not to mention her name too often, but the obsession, even by a vocal minority, with Sarah Palin needs much more analysis.  She cannot talk clearly.  She lacks basic information.  Yet her prom queen appeal seems to be enough for many people.  They want her to be president.  It's truly frightening.

There's a snippet of film at one of Adolph Hitlers rallies.  In it is a woman that is wide eyed and completely besotted with Hitler.  This image is shown fairly often on TV.  I think of her when I think of Palin supporters.  People with no real clue to the operational mechanisms of our world.  They just want to win, no matter who loses.. even if it's them.  A powerful and obsessive stupidity, one that may even point to the beginning of the end.  Our society is chronically immature, and these people embody that state of being.  In her pentecostal swoon she could easily see herself as the tool of god; she could push the button, and that's what I fear.  There's a lot of talk about her, and people are tired of it and label her as a fading thing.  I think not.  I think the great fight our culture has yet to engage in is a civil struggle against the forces of blank-eyed stupidity, the part of our society that's almost zombie-like in it's mentality.  And not all these peopel are stupid. But they are ignorant and immature.  Who will win.  The next year will see many important parts of this struggle come into the light.  I hope to be on the side of logic, and that I can achieve an overview of myself as I participate in this endeavor.
